How and when do I apply for a place?

Children start school at St Mary's Church of England Academy in the academic year (Sep-Aug) in which they turn five. An application should be made in the autumn term of the year before, with an absolute deadline usually mid January. To apply for a place at St Mary's Church of England Academy, the first step is to complete the CAF1 online at: https://www.suffolk.gov.uk/children-families-and-learning/schools/school-places/

 

Our Admissions Policy may be viewed in pdf format at the bottom of this page, a copy of the School Prospectus can be provided on request.

For all applications for a faith place at a Church of England school in Suffolk, parents are advised to complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) which will be used in conjunction with your application. When you have completed the SIF form it should be returned directly to the Academy.

 

Pupils usually start school early in September (i.e. at the start of the school year), this is in accordance with the LA Admissions Policy.

 

Can I visit the Academy?

Visits to our Academy are warmly welcomed; please telephone the academy office and the Administration Team will arrange a mutually convenient day and time for you to visit.

 

What happens if my application is unsuccessful?

If your application for a place is turned down following allocations under the criteria in our Admissions Policy, you will be offered an alternative place at another school by the County Council. You will receive a letter explaining the situation, any waiting list information necessary and the appeals process.
