Intent:
At St Mary's Academy we want to empower our children to become ambassadors for the future of our planet.
We will:
- Ensure children are exposed to a variety of places, people and cultures
- Enable every child to develop in terms of their social, moral, spiritual and cultural development
- Make connections to and within our local community
- Teach in a way that ensures skill and knowledge is progressive
- Broaden children's experiences beyond our locality, placing aspiration at the heart of everything we do
- Enrich pupils through trips, visitors and experiences
- Develop our children's vocabulary, reasoning skills and understanding of the world around them to prepare them to be resilient citizens of the future
- Prepare children to be ambitious in an ever changing world
Implementation:
Our Kapow Primary Geography Curriculum ensures we are able to fulfil these promises by:
- Ensuring full coverage of the National Curriculum
- Providing units of learning that teach essential geographical concepts, igniting children's curiosity and exploration of the world
- Focusing on the four key strands; Locational knowledge, place knowledge, human and physical geography and geographical skills and fieldwork so that skills and knowledge are developed across Key Stages
- Offering exciting and engaging opportunities to support children's recall
