At St Marys Academy, Physical Education is an integral part of our curriculum that is inclusive and engages all pupils. We want children to be inspired and develop a lifelong passion for Sport and Physical Activity. Children develop the knowledge, skills, and competence to excel in a broad range of sports and physical activities. We aim to deliver high-quality teaching and learning opportunities that enables all children to achieve their personal best.
St Mary's use both programmes Complete PE and Yoga Bugs. Complete PE is an interactive Physical Education resource designed to support the implementation of a High Quality Physical Education Curriculum. It helps with the School to meet its Ofsted Requirements. Through Complete PE, the Knowledge Organisers are used to support the children's learning and develop their skills across the PE curriculum.
We provide a range of sports clubs to engage children in physical/Active lifestyles. These can be sports such as Football and Basketball through to Table Tennis and Archery. All children use the Daily Mile to enhance their physical health and wellbeing.
Academy Sport Accreditations
At St Marys Academy we have been awarded the Gold Award in School Games Mark, which we have received for 4 years running. Next year we will be aiming for the Platinum Award.
The PE and Sport Premium provides an excellent opportunity for the school to further improve its PE provision and to do so in the wider context of the Forest Heath Schools Partnership.
