Here at St. Mary's we provide the highest possible quality of education, underpinned by our Christian ethos and values however we pride ourselves in the fact that we are mixed faith with a rising number of multi faiths through our school
We were lucky enough to receive some training from East Anglian Air Ambulance about what to do in an emergency situation, particularly if they find someone who is unconscious. The children thought about reasons why someone minght be unconscious. They learnt about the acronym DRs ABC.
D - check for DANGER
R - check for a RESPONSE by gently shaking the person's shoulders
S - SHOUT for help
A - open the person's AIRWAY by tilting their head backwards
B - check if the person is BREATHING by listening and watching their chest for movement
C - CIRCULATION. If they are not breathing, start chest compressions
The children then had chance to practise all of this using one of the CPR Manikins.
