Simulating the Digestive System
We had a gloriously messy session, finding out about what happens in our digestive system. We used scissors to represent the incisors, cutting up our food. Potato mashers represented the molar teeth that chew up our food. We added water (Saliva) and orange juice (stomach acid) to help break down the food. Next, we transferred the gloopy food in the leg of a pair of tights (the intestines). We squeezed out the nutrients and water and we were left with the solid waste - poo!
