We are all looking forward to a busy half term in Year 1. This half term we will be exploring the world around us and the animals from different continents. The children are all looking forward to coming dressed as explorers and starting to investigate more.
We are all looking forward to a busy half term in Year 1. We will be exploring plants and how they grow. The outside area will be a hive of activity with planting and watering taking place. The children will be developing their narrative writing with the story of Little Red Riding Hood using careful punctuation and phonics to spell. Please remember to encourage your child to read regularly at home and to return their reading book for an exchange.
World Book Day
Today was World Book Day and the children all dressed as their favourite characters form books. They enjoyed meeting other characters online from home too. The adults came dressed as characters from Nick Sharratt's Foggy, Foggy Forest and the children all explored activities linked to his books like Octopus Socktopus.
Spring 2 - Why are Ipads more fun than my Grandparent's toys?
This half term we will be busy thinking about changes that have happened since our grandparents were young. We will be using our oracy skills to ask them questions about what they liked to play with when they were 6years old. We are all looking forward to World Book Day where we will be exploring the books written by Nick Sharrett.
Safer Internet Day
During Safer Internet Day, the children have been making their own posters to help us all stay safe when on-line.
This half term we have been busy exploring Mildenhall and the local area. We have looked at making maps in geography, and finding key features in the town that have been there for hundreds of years. We have enjoyed exploring the books written by John Burningham including Mr Gumpy's Outing.

Year 1 enjoyed learning the actions and the song for Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
Christmas Decoration Day in Year 1
Today was Christmas Decoration Day in Year 1. We all enjoyed making different decorations with all the adults. There was glitter and sparkle everywhere!
