Saturday 14th October

We had a well earned lie in after the loooong day yesterday.

We had a delicious breakfast of pain au chocolat, croissant, fruit, cereal and yogurt then got ready to leave. Our first stop was the market in Laval - we had a good look around and practised using some French phrases to buy things. We particularly enjoyed the crepes - "Je voudrais une crepe au nutella". Some of the children were challenged to find out the French words for a few items - grape = raisin; apple = pomme; strawberry = fraise; orange = orange; potato = pomme de terre.

Next, we went to the Carrefour hypermarket. We were amazed at how big it was and how many different things could be bought.

We had a picnic in the pretty town of Chailland, next to river and waterfall.

In the afternoon, we visited Fougeres and had a tour of the castle. Aymeric (our guide from Chateau Beaumont) told us about the castle's history before we braved the spiral staircase up to the top of the tower. The views were amazing.

Unfortunately, we weren't able to visit the chocolate shop as we didn't arrive in time, however, we did have a sample of their chocolate after dinner. Tonight's food was coq au vin with rice, followed by chocolate cake.
